ABOUT KEITH

Keith Willeford received his undergraduate degree in economics from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in May 1991. He received his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in May 1994. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1994 and licensed to the state of Oklahoma in 1995. Mr. Willeford became Board Certified in Criminal Law in 2007.

He is a former Hunt County prosecutor, having served as the County Attorney and Assistant District Attorney for almost 10 years. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Texas and Eastern District of Texas. He is a member of the Hunt County Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

He has previously taught business law and criminal law at Texas A&M-Commerce and Paris Junior College.

Mr. Willeford represents clients charged with DWIsdrug offenses, and any other felony or misdemeanor charges in state or federal court. He handles traffic tickets, as well as driver’s license issues.

Mr. Willeford's practice areas also include juvenile law, immigration, and Department of Defense security appeals.

YEARS LOCALLY

Attended Greenville ISD through 7th grade and moved to Celeste, graduating from Celeste High School in 1987. His grandparents owned a grocery store in downtown Greenville from 1955 to 1985 and his uncle, Big John, was Hunt County Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 in the 1980s.

PREVIOUS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE

Keith was elected and served as Hunt County Attorney from 2001 to 2004. He was in charge of prosecuting all misdemeanor charges in Hunt County which numbered over 15,000 cases. Keith was also in charge of Child Protective Services and all juvenile crimes referred for prosecution.

WHY IS HE RUNNING FOR OFFICE?

I believe that Hunt County deserves someone with significant experience. I am the ONLY candidate that brings that to the bench. I am the ONLY candidate that has prosecuted criminals. I believe that the Criminal Jury Trials in the 196th District Court needs someone that is Board Certified to oversee these cases.
